Romeo is the definition of a dream pony. This 2021 registered Welsh gelding stands 12.2 hands tall and is as adorable as they come, with a perfect button nose, beautiful face, striking eye, and correct conformation to match. He’s the kind of pony that captures hearts the moment he walks out of the stall.
Romeo is first to meet you at the gate and absolutely loves attention. With his goofy personality and sweet nature, he quickly becomes a favorite wherever he goes. He bonds easily with his people and has the kind of temperament that makes him a joy to have in the barn.
Under saddle, Romeo is well-started and confidently progressing. He completed 90 days of jump training last summer and has been ridden and shown by lesson riders. He has a solid walk, trot, canter, and stop, a natural lead change, and transitions easily — cantering off a kiss and stopping off voice cues. He’s responsive, balanced, and incredibly fun to ride. He is reliable enough that my 2-year-old daughter with very little riding experience can ride him around all by herself.
Romeo has been shown at Estes Park and Copper Penny, hauling in, stepping off the trailer, and riding exactly the same as he does at home. His consistency and level-headed nature make him stand out in new environments.
He also absolutely loves the trail. Romeo has been ridden extensively outside, confidently navigating dogs, bikes, running teams, strollers, traffic, and even busy downtown settings at night with music and crowds. He crosses water, bridges, tunnels, and will ride along the road without hesitation.
Beyond riding, Romeo has a strong groundwork foundation and has been introduced to liberty work. He’s learning tricks like the step-up, bow, and lay down, and enjoys engaging with his handler. He’s also been ridden bareback and with a neck rope, has a finished neck rein, and moves nicely off leg cues.
Romeo combines talent, brains, heart, and personality into one compact, eye-catching package. He has a wonderful foundation, a big try, and the kind of disposition that makes him truly special.
