Luka is the definition of a true all-around mare — big, beautiful, and ready to do the job. Standing 16.1 hands, this golden palomino has the build of a ranch horse, the brain of a teacher, and the heart of a partner.

Originally from a working ranch in Texas, Luka was a go-to mount for an elderly gentleman. She’s spent years doing real ranch work — checking fences, branding, dragging calves, and working cattle on long drives. Her experience in wide open country laid the foundation for the solid, reliable horse she is today.

Since arriving at our barn, Luka has transitioned into an exceptional trail and lesson horse, carrying kids and beginner riders with confidence and care. She has a naturally forgiving disposition and will pack around the tiniest riders one day, then step up to give a more advanced rider a forward, athletic ride the next. She has a big motor when you ask for it and a quiet, steady feel when you need it most.

Out on the trail, Luka is a pro. She crosses water and bridges without hesitation, rides through traffic and crowds with no spook, and handles dogs, bikes, strollers, and wildlife with ease. She’s also surefooted in the mountains and enjoys long-distance rides and steep, technical terrain — making her an excellent candidate for a packing or camping horse.

In the arena, Luka has a soft walk, jog, and lope, a solid stop, and a smooth neck rein. She moves off the leg well and carries herself with poise. She’s also been lightly started in English, showing a natural aptitude for collection, cavalettis, and low crossrails — stylish enough for hunter pleasure or a future as a fox hunter.

Luka thrives in a herd or stall setting, gets along well with both mares and geldings, and is easy to catch. She ties, loads, bathes, and stands well for the vet and farrier. She’s the kind of mare you can rely on every time — quiet, confident, and built to last.

If you’re looking for a seasoned, steady, and versatile partner that can do a little bit of everything — from ranch work to lessons to serious trail miles
