Under saddle, Lucky is as dependable as they come. He’s the kind you can leave off and simply saddle up and go — no fuss, no freshness. He loves the trail and has covered serious miles, from the busy Poudre Trail to the rugged Rocky Mountains. He is surefooted, confident, and will carefully pick his way through rough terrain or even make a trail when needed. He’s completely comfortable around strollers, bikes, runners, trains, traffic, and the chaos of riding straight through downtown — he’s even been ridden along the highway without concern.
In the arena, Lucky shines just as bright. He has a beautiful walk, jog, and lope, a smooth sliding stop, a correct backup, and a fluid crossover. He has had a rope thrown off him, dragged logs and tarps, walked confidently over obstacles, carried flags, participated in drill teamwork, and pushed cattle with ease.
He has also been lightly started in English and is progressing nicely with collection and frame. He’s careful with his feet over cavalettis and has gone over small cross-country courses and crossrails, showing natural ability and willingness.
